Events unfold rapidly as Hamdy navigates a series of predicaments, leading us to discover whether he can return to the righteous path or if he is lost forever in a maze of twisted roads.

Consequently, Mamdouh devises a diabolical plan—one he believes cannot fail—to seize his due. El-Haqqaneya
(The House of Justice). Set in Alexandria during the 1940s and 50s, this novel tells the story of Firdous, a simple rural girl who finds herself the mother of a beautiful child without support, experience, or money. Firdous attempts to find a way to lift her daughter out of the poverty of the Haqqaniya district, only to discover that achieving our plans does not always equal happiness or peace of mind. The novel poses a difficult question: Does achieving our goals necessarily mean our happiness is complete, or do we sometimes plan our own misery with our own hands?
